Daredevil #1 Sample

These pages were hard. And it wasn't the acrobatic nature of Daredevil or the crazy angles - it was the storytelling. It's a great script by Mark Waid - but trying to find a way to keep three pages of jumping around visually varied and interesting while still keeping a sense of location was a bit tricky.

I also took some risks with these pages (see page 2), but I felt they were justified in the storytelling. I wasn't doing tricks for tricks' sake. With Daredevil and the Spot you have sonar, circular motiffs, etc. I wanted to play with that.

Anyways, very tough (I drew and redrew several panels over and over), but very fun.

Again, here are my pencils. Did layouts digitally, then pencilled the remainder by hand.

Catwoman Sample Pages

Here are 4 pages from a Catwoman sample script I was sent by an editor at DC. It was fun working from a script again. Again, trying to find a way to get both looseness and tightness in my art. Fun pages.

As always, for a bigger image, right click on the image and open it in a new window/tab.

Recently, I had a few editors ask to see my pencils with my inks (since I ink myself). So here are my pencils (loose as they may be). I did my layouts and roughs digitally, then did some basic pencilling to get emotions and poses right (as you'll notice, I changed some figures quite a bit to get the right shot). I had also inked the backgrounds (and one Batman head) when I remembered to scan these.
